Points have to be there first

The 2-point credit only applies to points already on your record when you finish. It cannot be banked for a future ticket. How NJ points work

Once every 5 years

A second course within 5 years of the last one will not remove points again. Ask your insurer separately how a repeat course affects the discount.

Tell your insurer

The discount is at least 5% on eligible coverages for 3 years, on the car you mainly drive. Insurance discount guide

It does not dismiss tickets

Handle the ticket with the municipal court. The course helps afterward, by lowering your point total and premium.
